Castel del Pozzo Riesling 75cl
£12.00100% Riesling Italico
Despite the name this variety of Riesling has its origin in France, and it arrived in Italy just in the XX century, much later than in East Europe where it was known as Welschriesling (literally Latin-Riesling, therefore Italian).
The wines made with this Riesling are quite different from the Rhine Riesling ones (more famous and widely grown in Alsace, Mosel and Rheingau): they are lighter in body and less aromatic, so way more approachable, and easier to drink.
Clear, pale lemon-green, light body, medium acidity, and low level of alcohol with roundness and a short and mineral-bitter finish.
The aromatic profile shows notes of quince and apricot, the 6 months stainless-steel maturation gives roundness and texture to the wine, softening the acidity.
Pleasant and Dangerously easy to drink!
Perfect as aperitive, even on its own, paired well with salads and light flavoured fish dishes
