This wine, produced from Barbera and Croatina grapes, owes its name to a silver mug called Gutturnium, already used by the ancient Romans.
This wine, which is the highest expression of our wine tradition, comes from the grapes produced by the best vineyards of the winery; sought after by the characteristics of the soil, age of plants and exhibition and cultivated with passion and respect. Ideal with cold and hot meats, roasted or stewed white and red meats, medium-aged cheeses.
Serve at 14° – 16° C
Food pairing: It’s ideal in combination with first courses rich in seasoning and second processed medium structure. We recommend the pairing with a typical dish of Piacenza cuisine, Pisarei and Fasò.
History of the grape variety: The Gutturnio is obtained from the Barbera (55-70%) and Croatina (30-45%). The name comes from a silver mug called Gutturnium, found on the banks of the river Po to Cross S. Spirito (Castelvetro Piacentino) in 1878, used by the ancient Romans to drink wine.
